What's In My Five

A friend emailed me and asked me to email her my top five movies. Is she freaking kidding me? FIVE? How can I limit it to five? Is that drama or comedy? Combined? Kill me. Kill me right now.

I decided to go with my top five comedies, because I like comedy more. I compiled a nice list (in no particular order) and then went about picking my top five… which I narrowed down to a minuscule 108 films.

I was able to group the list into 20 films and even those into two groups, but beyond that, I can’t go any lower. Most of these films float back and forth depending on my mood, the time of day, if I’m hungry, who I am with, etc.

Below is my Top Ten, quickly followed by my Top Twenty… which is (surprise!) followed by everything else. I don’t expect you to agree with my choices, but they are just that: my choices.

I should probably apologize in advance—I threw this list together from some other lists I had and moved things around, so some movies may have accidentally been repeated. Let me know if you agree, disagree, or feel I may have neglected one of your favorites. However, remember this: If I don’t like it, then it probably wasn’t funny.

I hate to be a bitch...well ok you caught me I love it...but this list *ahem* shows your age! Although I am far from young and hip...having past that mark the day I was born...no list should be considered complete without Legally Blond I and possibly even II. Otherwise, for those movies that were made during my lifetime and that I've watched, your list is pretty good!

Yeah, Chris, I can't believe you didn't include more recent comedy classics like, "You, Me & Dupree" or "White Chicks"

    ;-)

Great list! I thought I was the only person in the world (besides Barbra and Ryan) who loves "What's Up, Doc?" And you put it at #3! Nice.

My only quibble is that, IMO, "Airplane!" should be higher on the list. I would make it #10 and move "Ferris" down. But it's a tough call. Who didn't fall in love with Matthew Broderick when he sang in that parade?

Oh, EGL--please tell me that's on your list because she's a lawyer... It was cute, but not one I would watch again and again.

Michele: thank you... that's why I love you so much! It was the parade scene that put it there.

I love to watch Team America with someone who hasn't seen it before... their reaction during the "love" scene (porn with puppets) is priceless...
